Ashley is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. She received her bachelor’s degree in both psychology and sociology from Fresno Pacific University and obtained her master’s degree from Fresno State in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling.
Ashley provides services to individuals, couples, and families. As a Mexican-American child of immigrants, Ashley has the ability of applying and highlighting the importance of being culturally competent and culturally
humble while viewing the world through a multicultural lens. She strives to work within her community to serve all kinds of populations including LGBTQIA+ folks, teens, adults, seniors, and Latinos/as/xs/es as well as other people of color (POC).
Ashley ensures each of her patients feel they have autonomy and power to control what they can in their lives and make peace with what they cannot control. She is confident in her ability to work with patients who have struggled with self-harm/ suicidality, substance use, and trauma. She has been able to work with patients in controlled, in-patient environments as well as those who have been court ordered, or voluntarily sought services. Ashley has also had great success in working with individuals with anxiety, depression, grief, PTSD, anger management problems, parenting problems as well as families who have experienced trauma. She has had experience in working with a wide range of traumas including abuse, incarceration, and violence.
She completed internships at the Fresno Family Counseling
Center, the Fresno Mission, and the Central Valley Suicide and Crisis hotline where she received specialized training in Applied Suicide Intervention. Her theoretical approach includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for individuals, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, and Structural Family Therapy for families.
Ultimately, Ashley’s main goal is to aid clients in improving their lives by relieving symptomology and restoring relationships with themselves and with the ones with whom they are in therapy in lasting, sustainable ways. She is passionate about helping those who often do not have access to services while ensuring them they do belong in any space, including therapy, to better themselves.
